He is the author of five books and over a hundred published short stories. The Latvian language edition of his first novel “Lenin’s Harem” was published by Zvaigzne ABC in 2014 and added to the library of the Latvian National War Museum. He has spoken about writing and Latvian history at the Latvian Embassy to the United States in Washington D.C. William’s work has been a finalist for the two most prestigious awards in crime fiction: the Edgar Allan Poe Award from Mystery Writers of America and the Dagger Award from the Crime Writers’ Association of Great Britain. He holds an MA in Novel Writing from the University of Manchester (UK) and ESL teaching certificate from the LADO Institute in Washington D.C. He was elected a Hawthornden Writing Fellow in Scotland in 2013. A native of Nevada, William has lived in seven countries for writing purposes including six years in Latvia.
